While traveling on US 501 from Durham to Roxboro you will find yourself passing by the small town of Timberlake in the heart of Person County. Without a major business district and no municipality, Timberlake finds itself as a commuter town with a population of over 6,000. This is a town where most people live and play in Timberlake but work in the neighboring cities. It is the perfect spot to live if you are wanting to find yourself a house in a community where you can enjoy your life outside of your daily 9-5 and get more bang for your buck while still making a reasonable commute to work.
If you are looking for a house with some land of your own and at a good price, Timberlake is a good place to look. According to the County website “Public Records for Timberlake, North Carolina include 2,946 properties with a median sale price of $269,855, the average home typically offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Most buildings were constructed between 1980 and 2005, with some properties dating back to as early as 1900. Property records show the average building size is 1,643 sq ft on lots averaging 1.37 acres” (Timberlake, NC Property Records - CountyOffice.org). That median sale price of $269,000 is well under the median sale price found in neighboring Durham, which is currently at around $400,000 (Durham Housing Market: House Prices & Trends | Redfin).
Outside of its close proximity to other major towns, Timberlake is also closest to the Person County Airport.
Some popular town hot spots include: the Meadowbrook Swimming Pool which offers a great relaxing retreat to all Timberlake residents, Timberlake Mart offering both grocery and café, and a great local Community Pharmacy Services. Also make sure to check out the local butcher of Twins Meat Market, grab some lunch or a biscuit at the Country Kitchen. You can fly your private aircraft to the Raleigh Regional Airport at Person County and then grab dinner at the Homestead Steakhouse & Restaurant.
