Chatham County is a very popular destination for growth and housing with its close proximity to Orange and Durham Counties. Some Chatham county neighborhoods serve as "bedroom communities" to neighboring areas. Some new communities include Westfall, Briar Chapel, Chapel Ridge and Powell Place.
It isn’t just housing that makes Chatham County so enticing, Signature events and attractions are spread throughout the community. Some examples include Shakori Hills GrassRoots and Festival of Film and Dance, held annually in May and October, where artists and performers from around the state showcase their talent. A trip to the Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant is a key to maximizing your experience in Chatham County. This establishment is located on a dairy farm founded back in the late 1700's. Subsequently, the SilkHope Winery, Chatham County’s first winery, now has a craft beverage trail going through Pittsboro, where the original Carolina Brewery was founded. Construction is underway for Chatham Park, a "live-work-learn-play" community. For those folks who enjoy the outdoors, Jordan Lake runs through the heart of Chatham County. It stretches across multiple towns and has seven beaches and various boat ramps for those who enjoy time on the lake. Additionally, there are a few hiking trails around the lake for spotting wildlife and seeing the beautiful views of North Carolina. Fun FactChatham County is home to Hinshaw Music Publishing Company who are international publishers of Choral Music and feature the internationally renowned composer John Rutter.
