Hillsborough Community 

Hillsborough may perhaps be seen as a small country town on the outskirts of Orange County, however it has a vast number of activities and important historic sites to offer. There are numerous annual festivals and events such as Hog Day, a barbecue cook-off, and musical arts festivals. Just in time for Halloween, members of the community put on the Spirits Tours featuring spooky sights around town.
For nature lovers, the Eno River State Park is easily accessible from Hillsborough. The Eno River is a 40 mile long river stretching through Hillsborough and Durham. Frog Hollow Outdoor Rentals and Tours offers a variety of water activities for individuals and groups to participate in. A riverwalk follows the river for 1.8 miles with paved paths, boardwalks and 100-foot bridges. Additionally, the Occoneechee Mountain State Park, a 124 acre state park, offers a quick escape from the buzz of Orange and Durham counties. The various  length trails provided will take you around the mountain and across a few ponds.

Food lovers, you’ve come to the right town. Hillsborough offers every style of dining there is imaginable, from Italian and Mexican, to Vegan friendly and Japanese. Whatever your tastebuds are craving, Hillsborough has it to offer. The chef of Panicuto, an iconic Italian restaurant downtown, has been nominated as a semifinalist each year for the past five years for “Best Chef: Southeast.” Subsequently, local boutiques, antique shops and galleries are situated around the center of town and bring together the impressive works created by members of the community. Make sure not to miss the Hillsborough Farmer’s Market where locally produced fruits and veggies, flowers and various other goods are displayed.
