According to the town's website, Gibsonville has “been the ‘CITY of ROSES’ since the early 20th Century when passengers traveling through town on the North Carolina Railroad saw the masses of rose bushes growing along the fence at Minneola Mill. If you would like to learn more about the history of Gibsonville while in the area there is a popular place to stop by right in town called the Red Caboose Welcome Center and Town Train History! You can just pop into this unattended little station for some brochures, photos and more. You’ll learn fun facts, such as gold once being found in Gibsonville which had hundreds flocking to the area to get rich!
