Mebane is a small rural city in North Carolina and is in Alamance County, and partly in Orange County. Mebane is within 20 miles of several famous universities, including Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, Elon University. North Carolina State University & Saint Augustine's University are just over 40 miles away. Mebane has a small town vibe but is near bigger city areas, close to Greensboro, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh.
Downtown Mebane is home to many high-end home furnishing stores, antique shops, and trendy clothing stores. The downtown also offers a wide variety of restaurants, a mall, a bowling alley and there are plenty of activities to spend your time doing. In April, every year, the town hosts a festival called Dogwood Festival, where everyone in not only Mebane but other cities come together and listen to the live bands, eat from food trucks and play little carnival games. |
Fun Fact
The town was named for Alexander Mebane, an American Revolutionary War general and member of the U.S. Congress.
